Bringing clean
energy to Schroeppel

Producing low-cost and reliable clean energy for Schroeppel.

đźź  Proposed community solar project

About the Project

Schroeppel Solar is proposed at 20 Harris Drive, Phoenix, New York 13135, in the Town of Schroeppel. The project is in development. It is a community solar project, with no battery energy storage systems planned or proposed as part of this project. Electricity generated by the solar panels will be supplied to the local grid.

The Project will generate clean, renewable power and provide supplemental lease income to help sustain the Whitney family’s farming operations, which have continued on the property since the 1940s. The Project is designed to allow cattle grazing alongside solar energy facilities. We are working with the Town of Schroeppel as the project moves through the local permitting process.

Why Solar?

Lower Energy Costs

Solar power is a reliable, fixed-cost energy source that strengthens America’s energy mix and helps lower energy costs for the long term.

Thoughtful Design

Solar farms are quiet, low-impact neighbors. With thoughtful design, they remain out of sight and sound for nearby residents. Long-term land management plans can also boost biodiversity, supporting local wildlife.

Economic Benefits

Beyond environmental benefits, solar farms contribute to rural economies—creating jobs, generating significant local revenue, and providing stable, supplemental income for landowners.

Clean Energy

The Project will provide a clean, renewable source of energy that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions and help achieve New York’s Climate Act goal of 70% renewable energy by 2030.

Preserving the legacy of Whitney Family Farm

Cattle grazing alongside solar energy production

The project is located on active farmland used for hay and cattle. It has been designed to allow cattle grazing to continue alongside the solar equipment.

The solar project will provide supplemental lease income to help sustain the Whitney family’s farming operations, which have continued on the property since the 1940s. This additional income will help support the farm as farming costs continue to rise.

At the end of the project’s operational life, the land will be restored for future agricultural use, helping preserve its long-term productivity for generations to come.
